School Uniform
Wearing our school uniform helps create a sense of belonging, pride and shared identity at Te Akatārere Woodlands School. We ask whānau to support tamariki to arrive at school wearing the correct uniform each day.

 

School Uniform Items
School-branded uniform items are available through the school office. Please contact the school office to check current prices, sizes and availability.

Uniform Bottoms
Tamariki are currently expected to wear plain black bottoms with their school polo shirt. These may be purchased from any retailer.

Current suitable options include:

• Plain black shorts
• Plain black trousers or track pants
• Plain black leggings or tights
• Plain black skirts or skorts
• Bottoms should not have logos, patterns, coloured panels or prominent branding.

From the beginning of Term 1, 2027, the school will introduce specific black uniform bottoms as part of the official Woodlands School uniform. Information about the approved styles, supplier, prices and how to order will be shared with whānau before implementation.

The Board is mindful of affordability and will seek practical, good-quality options for families.

Footwear
Footwear should be predominantly black, safe, comfortable and suitable for learning and physical activity.

For safety and practicality:

• Closed-toe shoes are recommended.
• Sandals with secure backs may be worn during summer.
• Crocs are not part of the school uniform.
• Gumboots may be worn when it is raining or when required for a planned outdoor activity.
• Wearing the Uniform

Uniform items should be clean, tidy and worn appropriately throughout the school day and when representing the school at events.

We understand that unexpected circumstances arise. If your child is temporarily unable to wear the correct uniform, please contact their classroom teacher or the school office. We will work constructively with whānau and consider individual circumstances, cultural needs, health requirements and financial hardship.

Our approach is supportive and focused on helping every tamaiti feel included and ready to learn.
